The back story

About SoMa and the Embarcadero: SFMOMA, the Ferry Building and the ballpark

SoMa, South of Market, holds the city’s big museums and convention centre, its tallest towers and the waterfront from the Ferry Building to Oracle Park.

Museums and gardens

SFMOMA, MoAD and Yerba Buena Gardens sit close together around Third and Mission Streets, with Benu and the Palace Hotel nearby.

The Embarcadero

The Embarcadero runs along the water from the Ferry Building, with its food hall and farmers market, past 1 Hotel and Boulevard under the Bay Bridge.

SoMa is where the city keeps its museums, its towers and its ballpark.

Towers and the ballpark

Salesforce Tower and the rooftop Salesforce Park mark the Transbay district, and Oracle Park, home of the Giants, sits on the water to the south, near Saison.

Our advice: combine SFMOMA with a walk along the Embarcadero to the Ferry Building.
